Personal Background
Paul Sukenik’s practice focuses primarily on criminal defense, police defense, employment disputes, and civil litigation. Prior to joining Elkus & Sisson, P.C., Mr. Sukenik gained extensive criminal litigation experience as a Deputy Public Defender in the Brighton office of the Colorado State Public Defender. During his years as a Public Defender, Mr. Sukenik represented hundreds of clients facing many different types of felony and misdemeanor charges. These charges included—but were not limited to–DUI, DWAI, assault, domestic violence, child abuse, stalking, theft, burglary, trespass, harassment, probation violations, sex crimes, and drug crimes. He has extensive experience with many different types of criminal courtroom proceedings ranging from initial bond hearings to jury trials. With respect to employment disputes, he has represented clients in all types of administrative proceedings ranging from pre-disciplinary meetings to full evidentiary hearings appealing disciplinary decisions.
Mr. Sukenik grew up in Washington, DC and attended college at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. While at UVA, he earned a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Government and History. Mr. Sukenik went on to study law at the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he was an editor of the North Carolina Law Review. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife, daughter, son, and chocolate lab.
